Derek Boateng exposed over racism denial

Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng has been bizzarely exposed as a compulsive liar by video evidence after his desperate attempt to deny that he was racially abused fans of his own Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem.

Ghanasoccernet painstaking investigations revealed on Saturday that fans of the club turned up at the club's training grounds, Beit Wagan, to direct monkey noises at him.

The ultra-nationalist right fans of the club were making their feelings known about their club's humiliating exit from the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday.

But in a shocking twist to the story Boateng on Monday denied that the incident ever happened, clearly cowed by threats of his sacking from the club after it was revealed he responded by making rude gestures to the fans.

Boateng told KickoffGhana: "To be honest with you, I am surprised about the reports. No-one did anything like that to me."

Despite his denials, Ghanasoccernet can authoritatively reveal that monkey chants "Hu hu hu hu" were directed at the Ghanaian player.

The racist fans also sang in Hebrew : "Boateng is a monkey. Boateng is a son of bitch. We want him out of the team."

While many black players across the world have spoken out against racism in the sport, Boateng's action and failure to expose the racists at his club will infuriate anti-racism campaigners who have worked for several years to stop the menace in European football.

Beitar Jerusalem were leading Wisla Krakow 2-1 from the first leg but they were thumped 5-0 by the Polish champions in the reverse fixture.

The notorious fans arrived to vent their anger on the players for the defeat and Boateng suffered the brunt of the insults with monkey noises.

Other players were also not spared until captain David Amsalem and midfielder Michael Zandberg confronted the fans leading to the hold up of training.

Historically linked to the ultra-nationalist right and the Beitar political movement, created in 1923 by Ukrainian Vladimir Zeev Jabotinsky, the club's supporters are reputed for their extreme - often violent - behaviour and their anti-Arab chants, as well as their ardent hatred of rival team Hapoel Tel Aviv.
