Ghana coach CK Akonnor is said to have convinced ex-Netherlands youth international Derrick Luckassen to play for the Black Stars, GHANASoccernet.com understands.
According to the Dutch media, Luckassen opted to represent the four-time African champions as a senior international after holding talks with Akonnor during his visit to Neerpede.
The 25-year-old was one of three Anderlecht players of Ghanaian extraction that Akonnor met when he visited the Belgian giants.
He also spoke to youngsters Francis Amuzu and Jérémy Doku.
Luckassen is said to have started to process to get his nationality switch ratified by FIFA so he could make his debut before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Amsterdam born has played for Netherlands U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams.
He has played for AZ Alkmaar, PSV and Hertha Berlin.
