Division One League: Toendo United strike late to beat Guan

New Division One League boys, Zebilla Toende United left it late to gain the maximum points in their game against Tamale Guan United played at the Bawku Sports Stadium. The match saw both sides creating a number of scoring opportunities but failing to make them count.

The game was heading for a goalless draw until the skipper of the Toende United, Yakubu Hassan scored a beautiful 30 yards free kick which was virtually the last kick of the match to register his side’s first win of the league after their opening day defeat at the hands of Jeji Juventus at the Jeji Park.

The win has however lifted the Zebilla based side to the 2nd position with 3 points the same number of points with Guan United, Wa Bazooka with Jeji Juventus leading the standing in zone one A with four points. Action returns in the national second tier league with Toende away to Wa Bazooka Stars in midweek on match day 3. Meanwhile, Team Manager of Toende United, Abugbire Osman Bright has told Gbc Ura Radio Sports In Bolgatanga that he is satisfied with the win and will be going all out to get their second win of the season when they play Bazooka at the Wa Sports Stadium on Wednesday. “I’m happy that we have picked up our first win of the season. This will motivate the boys for our next game against Bazooka which we will be gunning for a win even though we are playing away from home,” Mr. Abughiresaid. According to the Toende United TM, it is their first season in the league and most of the boys are inexperienced but as the games roll down the team will come well.

“Our target is to be in the top two at the end of the first round and we are seriously working out our stock to achieve such target and build upon that in the second round of the league” he added. Toende United are making their first appearance in the national division one league after they qualified after winning the Upper East Regional division two league by going unbeaten.
