Dear Editor, Kindly permit me to comment on how the Division One League Board of GFA treat the referees and match commissioners.
These innocent referees risk their lives to officiate division one matches where there are no inner perimeters, and you will bare with me how referees and assistant referees suffer from hooligans during the league matches.
Typical examples are Referee James Ashong who officiated a league match between Awaso-based Farisco Stars and Christian Kotey, who also officiated the league match between Samartex F/C and Shalka 04 at Samreboi, in which they where brutally assaulted last year.
As I write now, my information is that, they have not been paid for the league matches they officiated in last year.
Moreover, some of the referees who were beaten had not been paid their hospital bills and others expenses.
As soccer fan, I would like to appeal to the top officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to see to it that such payments are made.
This is the time these referees should be properly motivated to boost their morale for fair officiating because it is the division one teams who get promoted to the premiership.
