The United States Embassy in Ghana has congratulated Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe after he knocked out his American rival Jessie Magdaleno to win the WBO World Super Bantamweight Title in Philadelphia on Saturday night.
Dogboe, 23, by the TKO, has become Ghana’s youngest ever boxing world champion.
Ike Quartey achieved same feat at 25.
Dogboe, recovered from a downing – the first time ever – by Magdaleno in the early stages of the bout until he downed Magdaleno in the fifth and 10th rounds, eventually burying him in the 11th round to end the match.
In a congratulatory message to the new champion, the Embassy, in a tweet said: “Congratulations to Isaac 'Royal Storm' Dogboe, who knocked out Magdaleno in the 11th round last night to win the WBO super bantamweight championship. Ghana's new and youngest world boxing champion surely 'deserves a lot of accolades'.”
