Ghana forward Dominic Oduro opened his goalscoring account for Charlotte Independence but it was enough as they lost 3-2 to Indy Eleven in the United Soccer League Championship.

Macauley King opened the scoring for Indy Eleven just 12 minutes on the clock , the defender smashed home a shot after cutting in from the right.

Tyler Gibson doubled the Eleven’s lead in the 16th minute banging in a rebound as the ball ping-ponged in Charlotte’s six-yard box.

Thomas Enevoldsen added a third in the 69th minute off a Kenney Walker corner kick.

Charlotte pulled a goal back through Dominic Oduro goal in the 73rd minute. Oduro had just come on for Jake Areman three minute earlier.

Andrew Gutman made things interesting with a second Charlotte goal in the 83rd minute but that was just it as Eleven run away with the maximum points.

Oduro joined the North Carolina-based side at the start of the American second-tier campaign.

The 33-year-old's move to the USL Championship ended his a 16-year MLS career where scored 63 goals, added 32 assists and appeared in 346 regular-season matches.

His illustrious MLS journey has made stops with FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls, Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, Toronto FC, Montreal Impact, and San Jose Earthquakes.

He made his debut for Ghana in 2012 in a friendly encounter against Chile.
