Dwarfs beat Swedru Bafana

Cape Coast, Aug. 8 GNA - Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs started the national division one league on a bright note when they whipped Agona Swedru based Bafana 2-0 in their league match played at Cape Coast sports stadium on Saturday.

Even though Dwarfs won the match alright, their attackers were not impressive as they wasted a number of begging chances in the first half. After a goalless first half, Dwarfs resumed strongly and earned a spot kick when a hard-pressed defender of Bafana hacked down Ekow Ghansah in the vital area.

Accra based class one referee, George Osei rightly whistled for a penalty but Ekow Ghansah's kick was punched into play by goalkeeper Mashood Nada in the 52nd minute.

Dwarfs after the miss never looked back as they kept the Bafana goal area under intense pressure but it was until the 62nd minute, when right halfback, Felix Sackey over lapped and sent a long range shot to the blind side of goalkeeper Nada for the opener.

The cheers that greeted this goal had scarcely died down when midfielder, Musah Labaran raised his side's tally to 2-0 with a classic shot in the 66th minute.

In the dying minutes of the game, Bafana made frantic efforts to equalise but the able defence of Dwarfs foiled their attempts at goal.
