The Electricity Company of Ghana has disconnected power to the Koforidua Multipurpose Youth Resource Center over an outstanding debt that has been accrued for some time.

According to GhOne TV news, the multipurpose resource center has incurred an outstanding debt of GH¢30,000 for some time without payment.

It was revealed that a lack of effort from the authorities in charge of the resource center to settle the debt had prompted the ECG officials to terminate power until the issue is resolved.

The facility, inaugurated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2023, has hosted notable events including sporting activities.

“ECG has cut power to the Koforidua Multipurpose Youth Resource Center due to GH¢30,000+ outstanding debt,” GhOne TV shared on X.

The Koforidua Resource Centre hosted the 67th Independence Day parade that welcomed the whole nation to the Eastern Region.

The authorities in charge of the facility are yet to respond to ECG’s actions and what they plan to do to restore power to the facility as soon as possible.

There have been concerns about the deplorable state of some sports complexes in the country that have been left to rot.

However, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has promised to address the issues accordingly.
