Hosts Ghana leads the medal table at the ongoing Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Games which is underway in Accra.
After day three, Ghana has racked 12 medals consisting of five gold, four silver and three bronze. Perennial rivals Nigeria trail in second place with 11 medals made up of four gold, five silver and two bronze.
Ghana and Nigeria have emerged the dominant forces at the second edition of the sub-regional Games, which has the 11 participating countries battling for honors in disciplines such as athletics, boxing, handball, volleyball and traditional wrestling.
Benin occupies the third place with two bronze whilst Burkina Faso and Mali follow in that order with one bronze each.
Six countries namely Cote d’ivoire, Liberia, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo are yet to win a medal at the Games which ends on Friday, June 22.**
