EOCO must investigate construction of Trust Sports Emporium

The Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) must start investigating the construction of the Trust Sports Emporium near the Korle Lagoon in Accra, which was funded by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

The edifice which was commissioned last November by then president of Ghana John Mahama has a Boxing Arena, weight lifting hall, and an Olympic-sized pool.

Why the Call for EOCO’s investigation

The call of EOCO’s investigation is simple!, over the week, the nation was hit with a shocking news following a report that Social Security and National Insurance Trust have spent $72million in purchasing software which wasn’t working.

Reports also indicated that there was underhand dealings regarding the purchase of the software, and in order to ascertain the reasons for that financial loss, SSNIT is currently being investigated over the software project which originally was $34 million but increased astronomically to $72 million.

With that alleged rot at SSNIT regarding the software project it will be prudent for EOCO to take a second look at SSNIT’s funding of the Trust Sports Emporium. Who knows they might find something Ghanaians don’t know.

Construction cost of the Trust Sports Emporium

It is almost year since the Trust Sports Emporium funded by SSNIT was commissioned but the actual cost in putting up that edifice has not been made public.

A lot of Ghanaians are SSNIT contributors and they must know how much was spent in building the Trust Sports Emporium.
