Egyptian Football Association has rubbished bribery allegations levelled against them by Ghana Football Association member Kofi Manu.

The 63-year-old official insisted in an interview with Ghanaian radio Asempa FM earlier this week that a member of Egypt FA made a $1 million proposal to Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi to give away the return leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifier between both countries.

And that the GFA boss rejetced the offer due to his honesty.

"I'm not mincing words. I say Kwesi Nyantakyi had the opportunity to take $1million in Egypt and give away that home match to the Egyptians. I won't tell you who wanted to pay but you can also understand,” Manu had revealed to Asempa FM.

Egypt FA president Gamal Allam believes the allegations must be reported to continental football body, Caf, in order for Manu to prove his claims.

“The Egyptian FA, under the presidency of Gamal Allam, will file a complaint to the Confederation of African Football (Caf) to punish a Ghanaian Football Association member called Kofi Manu and question him,” the body said on its website.

“However, Allam will first contact Ghana FA courtesy of the good relationship that ties both associations. The EFA president said that he is surprised by these 'false allegations', asserting that Egypt have always abided by the rules of fair play, and that he "will not give up on the association right after such accusations.”

Ghana defeated Egypt 6-1 in Kumasi in the 2014 Fifa World Cup first leg qualification final play-offs, leaving the Pharaohs with the huge task of scoring five unanswered goals to deny Ghana a third consecutive qualification to the Fifa World Cup having qualified in 2006 and 2010.

Two goals from Amr Zaki and Mohammed Gedo for the North Africans and a late strike from Ghana’s Kevin Prince Boateng settled the clash at 2-1 in favour of Egypt, which was however short of handing them ticket to Brazil.
