Egyptian giants Ahly to reignite interest in John Antwi

Egyptian giants Al Ahly is interested in the service of the Ghanaian attacker John Antwi of Al Ismaily and want to sign him in the next transfer window.

Al Ahly are trying to sign a new striker after injury to their star player Amr Gamal, who will be sidelined till the end of the season.

Sources in Al Ahly revealed that Spanish head coach Juan Carlos Garrido asked his board to sign the deadly attacker after he impressed this season with Al Ismaily.

Al Ahly are short of striking personnel after the injury bug hit their camp and left one of their strikers, Mohamed Nagy Gedo, sidelined as well.

Antwi went on trials with Al Ahly in 2012, but the Al Ahly coach at that time, Hossam El Badry, refused to sign the player. The Ghanaian then completed a move to Al Ismaily.

He became one of the best foreign players in the Egyptian league and was the top scorer in the season.

The 22-year-old player scored eight goals in nine matches with Al Ismaily.

Al Ahly are prepared to start negotiations with Al Ismaily to hire the Ghanaian marksman though he is under contract for two more seasons.
