Eleven Wise eyes Top Four finish next season

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - "Giants of the West", Sekondi Eleven Wise FC has targeted a Top Four finish ahead of next season's Glo Premier League as their giant step goal towards reclaiming their position among the best clubs in the country.

The 'Western Show Boys' finished a disappointing 11th place during the 2008/2009 Glo Premier League but the Management has set its sights this time round for a place among the best four Clubs which would also land them a ticket to participate in the continental club championship. Jamil Maraby, Chief Executive Officer of the Club made these remarks on Monday at a ceremony in Accra to outdoor the Club's new signings for the 2009/2010 season.

The new quartet includes goalkeeper Kotei Blankson and midfielder Samuel Ayew Yeboah, both from Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals, on loan enterprising midfielder Kweku Essien as well as striker Paa Joe Kuma, formerly of Accra Great Olympics. Maraby explained that the acquisition of the four experienced players is geared towards raising a formidable team capable of competing for honours next season.

"Our target is to be the 'galacticos' of Ghana football and the first step is by attracting big players. "These players are experienced on the local scene and we strongly believe their addition to the team will aid our quest for honours next season."

The CEO added that the four players were made at the request of the technical team whose guiding rule is a finish among the top four Clubs. "We have challenged the technical team to ensure that we place among the best four clubs at the end of the season or heads will roll." Marabe said the four players are the first batch of the latest acquisitions, adding that negotiations are advanced to get other equally experienced and competent players to join the Club before the closure of the registration window on Friday, October 9.

On the terms for the players, he outlined that Blankson, Kuma and Yeboah have been contracted for two seasons each whilst Essien, the 'Most Valuable Player' on the local scene three years ago joins on a season-long loan deal from Israeli side, Bnei Sakhnin. An elated Yeboah on behalf on the new recruits assured the Management and fans that they will contribute their quota to aid the 'Western Show Boys' finish among the top four and as well qualify for the continental Club Championship.
