Emmanuel Tagoe should be serious - Ike Quartey

Former World champion, Ike Quartey, says he wasn’t enthused with Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe’s output in last Saturday’s bout against Fernando David Saucedo at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Tagoe successfully defended his IBO lightweight belt by stopping Saucedo in round 10. Before that stoppage, Tagoe during the course of the bout was showboating.

A move Quartey believed it will not help the Ghanaian if he wants to become a great boxer.

“Did DK Poison, Azumah Nelson, Nana Yaw Konadu, Ike Quartey danced in the ring before,” Quartey quizzed in an interview with Hot FM.

“If Game Boy wants to be a World champion then he should be serious that is all.”

During the course of the fight, Quartey angrily went out of the Arena, in explaining why he did that, the former WBA World welterweight champion said:

“I did that because i was disappointed in the referee, after the referee stopped the fight the guy [Fernando Saucedo] said he wants to fight so why did the referee stop the fight.”

“The referee should have given the guy chance to fight, the referee gave him 8 counts and the guy said i want to fight so why did he stop the fight?, my only advise to Game Boy is if he wants to be a World champion then he must be serious.”
