Wa All Stars goal keeper, Richard Ofori, has shared his goal keeper of the year award with his team mate after his recognition at the end of the season. The hugely built custodian defended his personal trophy as the best goal keeper in the local terrain with stupendous displays across the past 2016 campaign.

The back stars vice goalie, who conceded 14 goals in his 27 matches, felt honoured with the ´safest pair of hands award´ at the 2016 PLB Awards night staged in Accra. The emotional winner was however quick to share the glory with his team mates in a triumphant mood. He further commended his colleagues for their heroics last season while tipping them to stun the rest of the football family when they begin their CAF campaign.

“Ofori‘s name was mentioned as the winner of the award but the truth is that it is for WA All Stars as a whole. We worked as a team and must enjoy as a team.
Without their support I wouldn’t be here as an award winner in the first place. It is not a hundred meter race where you do it all alone.
Hopefully, Africa will get to know us when we open our Champions league journey. It is like a dream come true to defend my goalkeeper of the year award on a personal level”, Ofori said.

Wa All Stars surged to the summit of the log with 51 points to lift the 2016 GPL trophy with a game to spare. The Blues are set to represent Ghana at the continental level when the 2017 CAF season kicks off.
