Espanyol have finally agreed to sell Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso to Russian Premier League giants Rubin Kazan after refusing to extend his contract.
The petrol-rich Russian team have seen a first offer rejected and they were warned by the club for trying to induce Wakaso with money.
According to Fotospor, Espanyol were asking for seven to eight million Euros for their priceless asset, but Kazan were ready to pay six million, which has been accepted.
The 23-year-old told Accra-based Peace FM he has rejected a contract extension because the terms fall below his expectation.
“It is about money, they want me to extend my contract and I made my demands clear,” Wakaso said. “They made a counter offer which did not meet my expectations so I rejected their offer.
“So we now wait to see what will happen,” he added.
Wakaso, 23, was signed by the Barcelona-based club in the summer of 2012.
