Esperance have suffered yet another injury setback ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Hearts of Oak with new striker Haythem Jouini is out for four weeks.
The 22-year-old suffered a knee sprain in the defeat to Club Africain on Tuesday which sees the side’s hopes of winning the domestic title fade into thin air.
Jouini has been ordered to rest for four weeks following an MRI scan on the injury.
This means Esperance will be without their two top strikers against Hearts of Oak with Yannick N’Djeng also ruled out after rapturing cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
The Tunisian club with thus be at a disadvantage in front of goal when they face Hearts on Sunday in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup qualifier.
The Phobians will be looking to capitalize on this development by securing a positive result in Tunis before finishing off the tie at home on June 7.
