Right to Play, Essien Foundation gives to Dangme West

Right To Play (RTP), an international humanitarian organization in association with the Michael Essien Foundation, has donated reading books and sports equipments to children from some deprived communities in the Dangme West district in The Greater Accra region.

The donation came off last week at Dodowa the district capital where the Municipal Chief Executive took dilivery of the items.

They included 420 reading books, 101 RTP footballs, 720 bean bags, 48 skipping ropes and 26 foot pumps valued at over 1.1 billi0n old Ghana cedis.

Country Manager of RTP Ghana, Isaac Oware Aboagye said children from deprived communities where RTP implements its activity will be beneficial recievers of books aimed at improving the reading skills of children as well as teaching them the essential life skills needed.

The books called 'reading goals', is an initiative from the Michael Foundation, Chelsea FC and the Pearson Education.

The Michael Essien Foundation partners with RTP to promote the livelihoods of children from deprived communities where the organization implements its activities.

Mr. Oware Aboagye called for the good use of the books and sports equipments and charged the municipality to ensure the the children get to use it more and for its proper care.

The District Director of Education of Dangme West, Freda Y. Kousi (Mrs), thanked RTP for the support they have shown the district for the last five years and promised to make good use of the items.

The reading goals are also a series that supports the one goal campaign to provide universal primary education worldwide.

RTP is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programmes to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.

It trians local community leaders as coaches to deliver their programmes in 23 countries affected by war, poverty, and disease in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America.
