Essien, Muntari out for 10 days

Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari have suffered injuries, ruling them out for more than a week.

The two Ghanaians did not take part in their 2-0 win over Sassuolo in an Italian Cup match at the San Siro last Tuesday.

Essien, who was expected to play in the game, had to pull out because he felt pain in his toe from an accident in training. For Muntari, he was ruled out because of a muscle problem.

“[Sulley] Muntari will have some medical checks tomorrow, while [Michael] Essien had a problem in his usual toe, but he should be there next Sunday,” Milan manager Filipo Inzaghi explained.

Essien, who has made nine league appearances, should be available to play against Atalanta on Sunday.

Milan are now 8th on the Serie A table with 26 points.
