Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has paid a glowing tribute to the memory of ex talent spotter Alhaji Sly Tetteh three years after he sadly passed away.
The ex President of Liberty Professionals died shortly after collapsing while playing a friendly football match in Cape Coast.
Tetteh is the one responsible for unearthing several great talents for the various national teams including Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil and Kwadwo Asamoah.
His rich experience and expertise in sporting high quality but unknown players across Africa has been sorely missed since his demise three years ago.
Michael Essien who is one of the major beneficiaries of the good works of Sly Tetteh couldn’t hide his admiration for his deceased mentor on the occasion of the third year of his passing.
“You discovered my talent at a young age and you guided me throughout my career to become the player I am today,” Essien posted with a picture of the late Alhaji Sly Tetteh on his Instagram page,
“You will always have a big big place in my heart forever. Its been 3 years since you left us. May your soul rest in perfect peace….Alhaji “sly” Tetteh.”
The late Sly Tetteh was burred according to Islamic custom in a funeral ceremony which was attended by high ranking members of the Ghana FA including President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Tottenham Hotspurs star Emmanuel Adebayor also attended the funeral as well as several Ghanaian players – most of whom benefited from the deceased’s works.
