Michael Essien?s on-off transfer to Premiership champions Chelsea appears to be back on again following reports that a ?27 million fee has been agreed with Lyon.
Reports have suggested that Essien forced the hand of Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas by boldly refusing to discuss terms on a new improved contract. The Lyon president has since decided to accept the inevitable and has met with Roman Abramovich to discuss a move for the 22-year-old, a mere 24 hours after publicly declaring that no transfer would take place.
Chelsea will no doubt be delighted to capture a player that they have desperately wanted all summer and Essien should be presented to the media on Friday.
