Eswatini have appointed appointed Dominic Kunene as new head coach on a one-year deal.

Kunene is replacing Serbian coach Kostadin Papic who contract was not renewed after it expiration in December 2019.

This was after back-to-back defeats in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and an elimination in the preliminary round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers to Djibouti.

Kunene's three consecutive Eswatini Bank Cup titles, SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup and a good march in the Eswatini Premier League with local side Young Buffaloes coupled with a treble Total CAF Confederation Cup participation was good enough to convince the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) to hand him the job.

The Eswatini Football Association confirmed Kunene's appointment in a statement that reads;

"The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has appointed Dominic Kunene as the head coach of the Senior Men's National Team (Sihlangu). He is the current Young Buffaloes head coach and he was the U-20 Men's National Team head coach."

Kunene has first assignment in March 2020 when the Sihlangu play Congo in a double header in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.
