Europa League: Inaki Williams scores in Athletic Club's win over AZ Alkmaar

Ghana international, Inaki Williams scored first for Athletic Club on Thursday, September 3, 2024, and inspired the team to defeat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 in the Europa League.

The Black Stars forward started for the Spanish side today in their second game in this season’s Europa League group stage.

The highly-rated winger operated from the flanks and was impressed with his performance to ensure the La Liga club bagged all three points.

Following a goalless draw from the first half, Inaki Williams, scored in the 72nd minute after he was assisted by his younger brother Nico Williams.

After that goal, Inaki Williams continued to perform and was a key man in the attack of his team as he lasted the entire 90 minutes.

Nico Williams, 22, also performed at a top level throughout the contest, providing a second assist in the 86th minute as he set up Oihan Sancet to score Athletic Club’s second goal of the game.

The win for Athletic Club has moved to 12th on the Europa League group stage standings.

The team will be counting on Inaki Williams and Nico Williams to win more games to advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
