Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has been left out of Evian TG’s squad to take on Tours FC in the French Ligue 2 on Friday.
Coach Safet Susic has named a 17-man travelling party for the league tie slated for Stade de la Vallee du Cher.
Mensah’s omission comes two days after suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Comoros in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Kumasi.
On international duty, Mensah was replaced by Daniel Amartey after 26 minutes as the Black Stars booked a place in the third round of the qualifiers.
However, the former Free State Stars defender had played down seriousness of the injury, adding that his withdrawal was more of a “precautionary measure” than anything, after feeling a strain in his muscle.
Mensah played his first league game of the season just before the international break, after serving out a four-month Fifa ban in October for an unlawful move to the French outfit from Italian side Udinese in 2011.
Les Croix de Savoie would have to do without the defender for a while as they seek to improve upon their current seventh position on the league table with a win on Friday night.
