Ex-Cornerstone Chairman Nana Fitz Gerald Barkers-Wood is urging the President elect Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to appoint former Law Lecturer and staunch NPP member Dr. Obeng Busia as the new Sports Minister.

Dr. Obeng Busia, a well-known character in the sporting fraternity was a member of the Ghana Football Association from 1983-86 with the likes of Amakai Amartefio, Kojo Quashie and Elias Teye who served as the FA Chairman in the era.

His in-depth knowledge in Sports paved way for him to work as an executive member of Hearts of Oak from 1982-85.

The former Diplomat and Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast recently released a book “You can’t win the game without a game plan”.

Nana Fitz who remains one of the renowned football administrators in the country is calling on the incoming President (Nana Akuffo Addo) to appoint the former General Secretary of the Party (NPP) as the new Sports Minister.

“Dr. Busia is not new to Sports, he has been in Sports God knows how long and so I think it will be very great should the President elect appoint him as the Sports Minister,” he said.

“He has been in the game for a long time and has been a Sports person himself during his time with the Ghana Football Association,” he added.

The President elect is expected to name his new cabinet members when he is officially sworn into office on January 7.

Obeng Busia is the nephew of former Prime Minister of Ghana Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia.
