Ex-Hearts of Oak player Kenneth Sarpong has called for structural changes at his former club in order to restore their glory days.

The former winger, now residing in the United States of America, thinks that football management has now taken a modern trend and that is how clubs in Ghana must go.

“I have been away for some time now and so I have not been following the league. However, listening to and reading some stories on the internet, I am inclined to believe that there need to be some sort of structural changes in Hearts of Oak,” the former Ghana U17 star told Solar FM in Dunkwa-On-Offin.

“As a matter of fact, the changes in the world have brought different problems that need different ways of solving them.

“You cannot always rely on the same old ways of doing things and expect the same results. A strategy that worked in the past cannot work today because the strategy may not fit the current situation.

“We are living in an era where football is being run as a business but that is not what is happening in Ghana.

“Our football administrators need to learn a lot in the area of running football clubs.

“It is not just about getting up one day to form a football club because perhaps you have money.

“It is about having the needed knowledge and applying the dynamics of the day and also making the established structures work.”

The 2000 CAF Champions League and Super Cup winner is currently learning for his coaching badges.
