Kennedy Agyepong's Kenpong Football Academy has achieved a new milestone as former President John Agyekum Kufuor has consented to become a patron of the Academy.

Kennedy Agyepong, widely known as Kenpong, revealed that President Kufuor, in a letter addressed to him, chose to serve as a patron rather than the initially requested position of Board Chairman of the Academy.

In the letter dated June 4, 2024, President Kufuor commended Kenpong for his foresight in establishing the football academy, which aims to advance the development of football in the country.

"I consider it an honor to have been invited to serve as the Board Chairman of the academy. It would be a privilege to be associated with the Kenpong Football Academy; however, I would prefer to serve as a patron of the organization," President Kufuor stated in his letter.

As a patron, President Kufuor is expected to leverage his extensive experience, influence, and reputation to enhance the image and progress of the Kenpong Academy.

The Academy's Chief Executive Officer, Kennedy Agyepong, expressed his humility and honor at President Kufuor's decision to affiliate with his academy.

"I have been traveling to Europe recently to forge partnerships for the Academy. Thus far, I have secured Memoranda of Understanding with Bastia Football Club of France and Sonderjyske Football Club of Denmark. President Kufuor's association, while a significant responsibility for us, will greatly enhance our image and recognition. The entire team must work diligently to uphold the high standards that the former President represents. We cannot disappoint him."

A revered statesman, President Kufuor served as the President of Ghana from January 2001 to January 2009. During his presidency, he also held the position of Chairperson of the African Union from January 2007 to January 2008.

Before his presidency, he served in various roles, including Minister, Member of Parliament, and legal officer for the City of Kumasi.

The Kenpong Football Academy, established in Winneba a few years ago, features state-of-the-art facilities that rival the best in the world, including a world-class pitch, swimming pools, gyms, studios, and hostels for the players and staff.

Agyepong has enlisted the expertise of a foreign coach to train the young players to meet the standards required in Europe and the Americas.
