Koforidua, June 4, GNA - The Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Ampim Darko has called on the members of the new Executive Council of the Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) to demonstrate leadership qualities that would promote the development of football in the country.

He said the ability of the members of the Council to be fair even when their own teams are playing would enable them to win the respect and admiration of their colleagues.

Mr Darko said this at the inauguration of a 16 member ERFA Executive Council under the chairmanship of Mr Justice Tsah, a public servant at Koforidua on Friday at this year's Congress of the Regional Football Association.

He appealed to the District Assemblies to use their share of the Common Fund meant for the promotion of sports in their districts to support the development of football.

Mr Francis E. Polley, a Koforidua-based legal practitioner who chaired the Congress said that the development of football in the Region should be improved in accordance with the rules and regulations of the game.

The Secretary to the ERFA, Mr Martin Bruce said payment of affiliation fees of 400,000 cedis per Club has been opened up to June 22, this year to enable the association have the list of teams that are ready to play the league.

Mr Polley said that after the deadline, the Association would put the teams in groups so that their representatives decide on the commencement of the league.
