FA Cup Round of 16: Kotoko battle RTU, Hearts against Afienya

The Round of 16 draw of the Ghana FA Cup took place on Tuesday at the Ghana FA headquarters with several matches expected to provide fireworks.

Asante Kotoko will continue their title defence when they lock horns with former Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United after edging past Birim DC United in the round of 32.

Record holders Hearts of Oak will battle giant killers Afienya City, who eliminated premiership side Great Olympics in the hunt for their tenth trophy.

The third-tier side will welcome Hearts to Tema as they seem poised to keep making history this season.

Last season's finalist Inter Allies will travel back to Obuasi to face Ashantigold SC once more, with the hope of taking their revenge after suffering a 2-0 defeat last weekend in the Ghana Premier League.

Ashantigold, winners of the 1993 edition, are hoping to claim a double this season following a scintillating performance in the league. They are on top of the log with 28 points, six above second-placed Heart of Lions.

The competition's organising body will announce dates for the fixtures later.
