Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been handed a permanent contract by Portuguese champions, FC Porto, as they seek to build up a winsome team for their Champions League campaign.

Waris, 26, joined the Dragon on a six-month loan deal from French Ligue 2 side Lorient in January and was able to make nine appearances in all competitions.

Portuguese Sports Tabloid A Bola reports that Porto have already given Waris a four-year contract and he will stay at the Dragao up to the summer of 2022.

Porto Manager Sergio Conceicao is said to be happy with the output of the attacker despite him failing to score a goal during his loan deal and he believes the Ghanaian can be an integral part of his team.

The diminutive attacker has enjoyed a fairly successful career in Europe since his breakthrough season in the Swedish Allsvenskan with BK Hacken in 2012 where he won the goal king.

He has gone on to play for the likes of Spartak Moscow, Trabzonspor, Valenciennes and Lorient where he netted 25 goals in 73 games in three years.

Porto were said to have paid around 4 million Euros to Lorient to get Waris on lasting basis
