FC Samartex 1996, the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League champions, are preparing to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League.

Despite their enthusiasm, the team expressed disappointment at not being able to play in front of their home fans.

Alex Ayamba, a management member, emphasized the crucial role their supporters played in their league success. "Our supporters... we would have loved to play in front of our supporters. If you look at the league we won, they played a pivotal role. We are very comfortable playing in front of our supporters, so we would have loved to play here, but we couldn't," he told Peace FM, as monitored by Footballghana.com.

Ahead of their first preliminary match against Victoria United, Samartex underwent six weeks of intensive training.

The team also hosted and won the 2024 Nsenkyire Cup competition, where new signings were introduced to their passionate supporters. Key players, including Kofi Agbesimah, Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli, and Japhet Norvienyo, impressed the local fans with their performances.

Although they won't be playing at home, FC Samartex remains focused on making a strong impact in the prestigious continental competition.
