'FCPPL title race wide open'

West African Football Academy (WAFA SC) head coach John Killa is of the strong belief that this season’s First Capital Plus Premier League title race is wide open.

AshantiGold lead the table with 28 points after 13 matches but the Dutchman says no team has the upper hand yet.

Assessing the log, he claims the gap between the first team (AshGold) and the 10th-place team is only three wins, which is surmountable in a keenly contested league left with 17 more match days.

“Nobody has the upper hand to win the league this year, not even AshGold who are on top of the table,” Kila asserts.

“If you look carefully at the league table and the points separating the team, it tells you that week in, week out there are major changes due to the results from all the matches.”

Killa, winner of the coach of the month award for February, is guiding a very young WAFA side who returned to the top flight this season. He wants his young lads to maintain their focus as any slip could lead them down the log.

“I keep telling my boys to stay focused and keep fighting for all three points in every match because we never know who might just slip for us to take over their position.

“Any team can win the league and that adds more excitement to the league,” he said.

WAFA impressively lie fourth with 21 points on the FCPPL table.
