The Black Princesses of Ghana are set to begin their FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup campaign today, September 2, 2024.
The Princesses will face Austria in their Group E opener as they aim to start on the right foot.
Ghana has never made it past the group stage and thus would want to rewrite history this time in Colombia.
Speaking ahead of the game, Yusif Basigi expressed that he is privileged to lead the team on the world stage.
"I am highly motivated and I am calm because it is not every coach who gets the opportunity to be on the world stage," Basigi said.
Regarding the team's readiness, he noted that he has urged his players to maximize the opportunity of playing at the World Cup.
"I have made the girls understand that this might be the last opportunity for most of them to showcase their talents or a chance to play for the senior team. This is their chance to justify why they should be included."
The game is slated for a 22:00 GMT kick-off time at Estadio Metropolitano de Techo.
