Asante Kotoko management member Nana Kwame Dankwah has urged fans to remain calm as they are confident of paying fine imposed on the club by FIFA before the deadline.

The Porcupine Warriors have been fined $240,000 and must pay the money to Tunisian side Esperance for the illegal signing of their striker Emmanuel Clottey in 2015. The deadline for paying the fine is May 17.

Fears have been growing that, the club may not be able to meet the FIFA deadline. However, speaking on Joy FM’s Sports Link on Saturday, Deputy Accra Representative, Nana Kwame Dankwah, disclosed that, efforts were being made to pay the fine on time.

“Our supporters should remain calm. There is no cause for alarm. In fact, the Chairman is just organising himself to pay the money” said Nana Kwame.

Should Kotoko fail to pay the fine before the deadline, they will be banned from registering new players.
