Accra, April 15, GNA - Relegation threatened King Faisal on Sunday managed to pick a point in their 28th week premier league game against Liberty Professionals at the Dansoman Karl Reindorf Park.
Determined to keep their premiership status, Faisal took a fourth minute lead through Sumaila Nyanya who fed on goalkeeper Kotei Blankson's inability to make a first time save of Samed Oppong's shot. But the lead of the visitors lasted for only 19 minutes. Liberty drew parity through the efforts Tua Khamix in the 23rd minute when he picked a pass from Kwadzo Asamoah, turned swiftly round Richard Adjei before placing the ball beyond keeper Osei Boateng. It was a great goal, which attracted applause from the entire stadium. With a goal in each basket, the two sides struggled to take dominance of proceedings and created series of scoring chances which they failed to make use of, till the close of the first half. The trend remained the same in the early parts of the second half. As the game progressed, the home team became more dominant and created countless chances, but were denied the leader by the agility of goalkeeper Osei Boateng.
Asamoah's freekick could have fetched the winner for Liberty during injury time but the entire playing body and the bench watched in agony as the kick hit the cross bar and returned into action, for referee Joseph McCarthy to signal for the close of the game.
