Faisal Wins

At the Kumasi Sports Stadium King Faisal beat Obuasi AshantiGold 2-0 in their mid-week GT Premier League match.

Faisal, looking more impressive scored the first goal in the 73rd minute through Eric Gawu and went ahead to make it two through a spot-kick expertly taken by Hamza Mohammed in injury time. After a minutes silence for two departed sports presenters of the Nkosuo FM radio station of Kumasi, it was Faisal who nearly took the lead but Gawu's shot was sent to a corner.

AshantiGold accepted the challenge and in the 11th minute, goalkeeper Suraj Mohammed of Faisal had to stretch at full length to save a dangerous situation. They continued to press for the leader but the defence of Faisal kept them at bay.

Shaibu Yakubu of AshantigGold who was a thorn in the flesh of Faisal however missed a chance in the 32nd minute to find the net. Gawu nearly opened the scores for Faisal in the 40th minute but his attempt at goal missed the target.

On resumption of the second half, Faisal continued to pile on pressure and this resulted in their first goal in the 73rd minute through Gawu. They did not relent on their oars and earned a penalty when Ben Wilson was brought down in the penalty box by an AshantiGold defender which Hamza Mohammed made no mistake to score from the resultant kick.

In the 84th minute, Nasiru Lamini was shown the red card for hitting goalkeeper Suraj Mohammed when a corner kick was about to be taken to end the days proceedings.
