Faisal beat Ashgold 2-1

Kumasi Oct. 2 GNA - Kumasi King Faisal on Sunday beat Ashantigold 2-1 in their GT Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Ashantigold were the first to open the scores through Osei Kuffour in the 69th minute after an excellent build up from the centre circle. Incensed by the goal, King Faisal reorganised their attack and gradually found their rhythm and from then on launched series of attacks on the visitors and this paid off for them in the 85th minute when substitute Osei Kofi scored the equaliser from a rebound. King Faisal from then on pinned their opponents to their own half with series of forays and it came as no surprise when in the 89th minute Eric Gawu scored the match winner to seal the victory for Faisal.

Power F/C lifted themselves a step up the table of the GT Premier League when they managed a hard fought 2-1 win over visiting Tano Bofoakwa in their match at the Tema Sports Stadium on Sunday. The match had travelled just a minute when Jonathan Abeiku shot Power into the lead through a spot kick after a hard-pressed defender of Bofoakwa handled the ball in the box.

Yaw Antwi nearly equalized for Bofoakwa in the 30th minute but the striker fumbled in front of goal to deny his side the chance. Power came into the picture again and went ahead to score their second goal in the 36th minute through Allan Shearer whose low-grounder beat goalkeeper Ransford Cudjoe of Boafoakwa in the 36th minute. Bofoakwa decided to bring on Kwasi Matthew and Sanda Mohammed for Yaw Asante and Atta Yahaya while Power also substituted Francis Cofie and Kenneth Sarpong for Aaddokwei Addo and Sampson Ocran but it was Bofoakwa who benefited from the changes made and went ahead to redeem a goal through Yaw Antwi a minute to full time.

Kwabena Yaro of Power won the Best Player Award after the match.
