Faisal beat Lions 3-2 to place third place

Kumasi, Mar. 14, GNA - King Faisal registered a 3-2 victory over Kpando Heart of Lions in a third place match of the Ghana Telecom 2004 Premier League at the Kumasi Sports stadium on Sunday.

King Faisal who went into the game full of vengeance and determination took the lead in the 15th-minute through Sumaila Yahaya who connected home a corner kick from Habib Mohammed.

Playing like wounded lions, King Faisal would not allow their opponents a breathing space and piled on pressure and scored their second goal through a spot-kick, which was taken by Ben Wilson who was fouled by goalkeeper Albert Ganiwu in the penalty area in the 38th minute.

Down by two goals, Lions kept their composure and managed to pull a goal back in the 42nd-minute through Jonathan Quartey from a free kick just outside the box.

King Faisal determined to carry the day increased the tally in the 61st minute when Eric Gawu perfectly returned a rebound from Sumaila Yahaya.

Lions, who really proved that they were a force to reckon with, reduced the score to 3-2 barely two minutes later through Obed Asamoah. Faisal and Lions were runners up in Zone A and B respectively in last season's structured league and the match was to determine the overall third place team.
