Fans are ready for Super 2 clash

Nerves of Accra Hearts of Oak fans have been calmed after agitations that their club boycotted the upcoming Super 2 competition which will be played in Kumasi this afternoon.

The game, involving Hearts of Oak and rivals Asante Kotoko, is a new competition which was introduced two seasons ago by the two most glamorous clubs in the country to raise funds and herald the new season.

But the club’s fan base in Kumasi kicked against the competition this time around, citing the timing and the fact that they did not want to play their arch rivals before the season commenced.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the club, Muheeb Saeed, told the Graphic Sports in an interview, that they had concluded negotiations with their supporters in Kumasi, who had now back-tracked on their demands.

He said they had reached an agreement with the fans and they were now willing to go and support the Phobians during the first leg game in Kumasi.

He also urged the supporters to rally behind the management and technical team since the board had instituted one of the most competent and experienced technical staff ready to deliver in the coming season.

Muheed hinted that the new managing director of the club, Gerald Ankrah, would be unveiled next week to assume duties as the MD of the club.

According to him, Ankrah was coming with a huge experience, having served as the financial secretary of the National Chapters Committee (NCC) and, therefore, he had no doubt that Ankrah would steer the club to a great season.
