Former Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda, who previously played for South African sides Chippa United and Orlando Pirates, has highlighted significant differences between the Ghana Premier League and the South African League.

Dauda praised the South African league's timely payment of players, attributing this to robust sponsorship deals that ensure financial stability for the clubs.

"In South Africa, even the lower teams make sure they pay players on time," Dauda told Joy Sports. "Most Ghanaian clubs use their own finances, which can lead to delays in payments."

Dauda also noted the advanced team management in South Africa, citing the use of video analysts by top clubs like Orlando Pirates to strategize for games. He acknowledged that while Ghana has abundant talent, the structural and financial support in South Africa sets their league apart.

The player, who built his first house with the signing bonus from his time at Ashanti Gold (AshGold), emphasized the need for Ghanaian football to adopt better management practices to bridge the gap with more organized leagues.

"When it comes to talent, we have it," Dauda said. "But we must accept that their structure is different."
