Fatau Dauda to be handed automatic starting spot at Chippa United - Club Chairman

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is set to be handed an automatic starting place at new club Chippa United after tying up a 2 year deal with the PSL new boys.

The Black Stars first choice has had a torrid time at Orlando Pirates where he played second fiddle to the accomplished Senyo Meyiwa which almost led to the Ghanaian losing his place in the national team to other goalkeepers.

Chippa United Chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has revealed that newly signed Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda, will be the club’s number one keeper this season.

“He is a quality goalkeeper and he is also Ghana’s number one goalkeeper, so it makes sense for us to make him our number because of his experience. I’m happy to have a player of Dauda’s quality in my team,” said Mpengesi.

Mpengesi also clarified rumours that the former Ashgold glovesman was hired on loan, and has confirmed that it is in fact a permanent deal. “All I can confirm at this stage is that Dauda will be joining us on permanent basis, but the paperwork surrounding his contract will be finalised once I return overseas,” said Mpengesi.
