Rayo Vallencano manager Paco Jémez has fallen on Ghanaian promising star Fatau Mohammed for their Spanish La Liga tie against Barcelona after injury to influential player Ze Castro.
Fatau, 21, gets his chance in the first team this once more after falling down the pecking order last weekend.
Jémez falls on the young midfielder he signed from Granada FC last season after Portuguese midfielder Zé Castro was ruled out of the clash at the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano with injury.
Though the Spanish trainer mourns the loss of the Portuguese influential player, he believes Fatau can fill the void well.
“It is a sad that we’ve been enduring to the end but have this discomfort now. He is an important player for us, but he cannot be with us and so Fatau is in the squad as a good replacement,” he said.
Since arriving at Vallencao, Fatau has not found things smooth at the club as he has struggle to break into the regular squad for game. His only appearance in the 18-man squad came in Vallencano’s 4-2 loss at Villarreal in late September.
He has admitted he needs time to work his way into a regular place in the first team squad.
