Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Kudjoe Fianoo, has clarified the bonus structure for Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, stating that Coach Avram Grant’s side will not be handed a bonus of $10,000 following the loss to Senegal, but will earn a qualification bonus of $30,000 if the team makes it to the quarter final stage.
Reports in the Ghanaian media claim each Black Stars player will be handed a $10,000 bonus following the team’s loss to Coach Alain Giresse’s side.
“No. That decision (to pay all players $10,000 each) has been reversed. Now what we are going to do is that when they progress past the group stage, then they will be paid a qualification bonus for the next round but this one is not going to attract any monies,” Mr. Fianoo told Accra-based Happy 98.9FM.
After suffering an opening 2-1 defeat to the Teranga Lions, the Black Stars are in desperate need of victories over Algeria and South Africa in their final group games to improve their chances to earn the qualification bonus.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo has returned to Obuasi from the Black Stars camp to prepare for the Miners’ match-day 2 away fixture against West Africa Football Academy at Sogakope on Wednesday.
