Accra, July 6, GNA - Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) defeated Ghana Prisons Service 1-0 in their opening soccer match of this year's Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games played at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Tuesday.
Parading youthful and talented players, Fire Service thrilled the sparse crowd with some brilliant performance but could not find the net till the end of the first half.
On resumption, Fire Service redoubled their efforts and netted the only goal of the match through Nii Amartey Armah in the 61st minute to clinch victory for his side.
In the Women's event, Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) who are hosting this year's Games failed to turn up for their match against the defending champions, Ghana Police Service.
The match officials after waiting for some minutes on the field decided to call off the match.
In the Basketball event, Ghana Prisons lifted their image by beating Ghana Armed Forces by 53 baskets to 49 in the Men's category.
