First Ghanaian cyclist to be honoured with a race

Accra, June 17, GNA - A two-day cycling race has been put in place to honour Mr Mike Adjavon, the first professional cyclist in Ghana. The event has been fixed for between June 25-26. The race dubbed "Mike Adjavon Benefit Race" is to celebrate the life of Mr Adjavon, a cycling legend and also to raise funds for the development of cycling in the county.

The race, which is being organised by the Dome Cycling Squad, is expected to attract cyclists from all over the country. According to the organisers, the first day of the event will be honoured in Accra whilst the second day will be at the country-side.

The outstanding cyclist will pick home a brand new Pentium IV computer, two million cedis and a certificates as his prize with the second placed cyclist to be presented with a brand new Television set and 1.5 million cedis while the rest of the competitors take would receive consolation prizes.

The organisers have called on all interested cyclists to pick registration forms at the front desk of Choice FM.
