Five-member Committee to run GBA

Accra, Jan. 10, GNA – The National Sports Authority (NSA) has formed a five-member committee to run the affairs of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) following the dissolution of the executive board of the GBA.

The committee will be chaired by Jonathan Ansah Annan, with Ignatius Elletey as the secretary, Fred Ghartey, Rabon Dodoo and Richard .O. Lamptey as members. The NSA early this week in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, dissolved the Samir Captan led GBA, following protests from various stakeholders and the expiration of their two year mandate.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports from the NSA reveals that, the committee has been mandated to follow a five-step road map that will review the constitution as well as supervise the election of a new executive board for the GBA.

The Committee is expected to organize Stakeholders Meeting on Wednesday, January 23, after which nominations will be opened on February 1, for candidates interested in vying for the various positions on the board to contest elections.

The committee is expected to organize a congress for the GBA on Friday, February 8, for the election of new executive members. According to the source, the decision to form the five-man committee to avoid any form administrative game in the GBA.
