Inform Hearts of Oak attacker, Foovi Aguidi has confirmed his invitation into the Togo national team for their next month’s 2017 Afcon qualifier against Djibouti adding that it is a dream come true.
The budding striker has been in superb form for the Ghanaian giants in the second round of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier league netting 5 goals in 13 league games and has provided as many as 6 assists in the ongoing season.
With his performance, head coach of the Sparrow Hawks of Togo, Tom Saintfiet have invited the 23 year old attacker after he has been scouting the former FC Santos star man for the past month.
It could be recalled that, Foovi Aguidi was invited by the Swedish tactician last June Afcon qualifier against Liberia but the letter got to Hearts of Oak secretariat very late making it difficult for the Accra based club to release him.
Foovi Aguidi in an exclusive interview with Allsports.com.gh on his invitation into the senior football national team of Togo confirmed his invitation adding that his dream has come to pass.
“It is true I have been invited into the national team for next month Afcon qualifier, I was very happy to be invited because last June, I had the invitation play for Togo but the letter came in late which made it difficult for Hearts to release me.
“It is every footballers dream to play for his country and my dream has come to pass. I have worked hard for this opportunity and for the past month I have been in touch with the head coach of the Hawks [Tom Saintifiet] and he gave me the assurance that he will invite me for next month qualifier and I believe that my hard work and the platform given to me by Hearts of Oak has earned me that call up,” Aguidi said.
Togo is drawn in Group A of the Afcon 2017 qualifier and they are currently at the second position with three points after beating Liberia 2-1 in last June opening qualifier game.
Foovi Aguidi will be the second player from the camp of Hearts of Oak to earn a senior national team call up after Soulama Abdoulaye, who is the first choice goalie for Burkina Faso.
