Former Bank of Ghana Governor acquires 50% shares of Tamale-based Guan United

Dr. Nashiru Issahaku, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana has acquired 50% shares of Tamale-based Guan United Football Club making him an automatic President of the Club which has been renamed Tamale City FC

A new board has also been constituted to manage the affairs of the club with the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium adopted as its home grounds and Northern Senior High School (NOBISCO) school park as its training field.

Notable among faces in the new management include; Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, younger brother of former President Mahama, Mr. Jones Abu Alhassan and Abdul Fatawu board secretary to Real Tamale United (RTU) sporting club.

Others are, former Ghana Football Association president Alhaji Lepowura Mohammed Nurideen Dawuda Jawula, relatively unknown Mr. Abdul Somed Iddrisu and Mr. Michael Darku an investment banker amongst others.

Dr. Nashiru Issahaku revealed his priority is to grow a team that will be the best in the country disclosing that the first task is to qualify the team from the lower division to a premier division club and then subsequently win the league, a feast intended to attain within a season.

He further stated Tamale city FC is a project for development that seeks to bridge the gap that exists between the North and the South.

Dr. Nashiru Issahaku, however, revealed the emergence of Tamale city FC is not intended to rival Real Tamale United (RTU) but rather to create a level ground for fair competition.
