Former GHALCA Boss bemoans presence of "football parasites".

From: William Ezah, GNA Special Correspondent, Rustenburg, S/Africa

Rustenburg, June 29, GNA - Mr Joseph Yaw Appiah, former chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has descended heavily on people he describes as "football parasites" in Ghana, saying they are on the increase in the country.

He said so many people had all of a sudden become football administrators and were hopping from one club to the other feeding on them, adding that the situation was getting out of hand.

Mr Appiah who spoke to the GNA Sports at the Black Stars hotel in South Africa, said such administrators were parasites who were feeding on clubs and innocent individuals without making any investment in the game. "When you go to the GFA secretariat each day, you will see all manner of people hanging around the offices with no specific purpose.

"They have turned themselves into pocket lawyers and fake consultants looking for innocent individuals seeking for floating status or who have cases at the Player Status Committee and Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to devour".

He said the situation was so alarming that if not checked could destroy the modest gains made in the country's football arena. Mr Appiah said some of the pocket lawyers and consultants did not even have offices and had therefore made the GFA premises their areas of operation.

"I'm a fan of Bofoakwa and have invested in the Club. I don't see why I should move to another club because my services are longer needed at my club.

"Everyone should be committed and loyal to the cause of his club but not moving from one place to another in the name of business. "It is not business; they are parasites, feeding on innocent clubs and individuals", he stated.

He said the only way out was for the Congress of the GFA, the highest decision-making body, to come out with legislations that would curtail the activities of the parasites.
