Former Ghana President John Agyekum Kuffour has hailed Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan for his enviable performance for both Club and country.

Gyan has led the Black to three successive World Cups and also holds the record as the highest goal scorer for the Black Stars.

The Shanghai SIPG has made waves in countries like Italy, France, England and the UAE following his outstanding performance for his previous Clubs.

The 30-year-old was able to win the footballer of the year award in Asia on two occasions after scoring over 100 goals for Al Ain.

He finished third in the 2010 CAF Footballer of the year award and won the BBC African footballer award that same year after helping the Black Stars to a quarterfinal feat at the World Cup in South Africa.

Kuffour who is an ardent follower of football has parted the former Sunderland star for his enviable achievement as a footballer.

“I can decide to be over endowed by nature and obviously he (Gyan) has given a lot back,” Kuffour said during the launch of the ASABAND at the Banquet Hall on Tuesday night.

“Not only to Ghanaians but to the whole World as large, go to Britian, he has made himself a legend there, go to the Middle East, he is a legend, go to China now, Asamoah is a legend and he is also the captain of our Black Stars.

“It isn’t everybody that have been endowed that’s give back but Asamoah definitely is given back not only through football but also Music, dancing, entertainment.

“He just spreads happiness wherever he is and I bless and wish him a very happy and prosperous new year.

Gyan is currently Ghana’s top scorer with 48 goals in 95 appearances for the Black Stars.
